DRGW Gondola Project
My gondola started off with simple plywood box. Then using contact cement
I glued on a thin sheet of
aluminum all the way around.
An aluminum channel and angles were fited on the top rail and the ends.
The ends were made with aluminum flat stock and a .040 sheet of aluminum and glued.
I cast the ribs out of fiberglass and they were cut to length and glued.
My underframe was fitted and screwed to the underside of the gondola.
Ready for paint I primered the gondola inside and out.
After spraying black I applied the lettering and started painting the orange.
After drying the vinyl letters are removed to reveal the paint underneath.
I used Miracle Railroad Products lettering for my project.
My new DRGW gondola is ready for final assembly and a check ride!
Grab irons and stirrup steps are added.
