SP #177 Cooling Project
The exhuast casting was opened up with a Roto-Zip
Small brass channel was cut to length at a 45 deg. angle on the ends to fit.
This is the outside frame to which the other pieces will be attatched to.
All the pieces are test fit and now ready for soldering
I decided to solder the pieces in place to get a better fit since the small channel was very tight.
I placed wraping paper around the stack to protect the rest of the shell in case of any mishaps.
Now all soldered together I was able to take the new piece off and prime and paint it.
The paint now dry I pressed the new cover in place. No gluing, it was a nice tight fit.
After seeing the photos I will go back and paint the inside of the exhaust to hide the white from the cut.
Here is a view of an SD-50 exhaust. This is typical of the exhuast cover I was trying to replicate.
